Meet GRETA WIMMER
My STORY
My decision to become a counselor was shaped by witnessing the impact mental health challenges can have on individuals and the people who love them. Throughout my life, I have seen friends, family members, and others struggle silently while feeling pressure to keep going, even when they were hurting. Those experiences showed me how powerful it can be to have someone who truly listens, understands, and supports you.
One of the reasons I am passionate about this work is that I never want people to feel alone in what they are going through. Too often, individuals believe they have to handle everything on their own or that asking for help is a sign of weakness. I believe the opposite is true. Reaching out for support takes courage, and everyone deserves a space where they can be honest about their experiences without judgment.
MY philosophy
My philosophy is that people are far more resilient than they often realize. Therapy is not about “fixing” someone; it is about helping people better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and move through life’s challenges with greater confidence and self-compassion. My goal is to create a warm, authentic space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change in their lives.

STYLE/PERSONALITY
Friends, family, and colleagues would likely describe me as compassionate, down-to-earth, and someone who genuinely cares about others. I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where people feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are. While therapy can involve exploring difficult experiences and emotions, I also believe growth can come through laughter, curiosity, and celebrating the small wins along the way.
Outside of counseling, you’ll usually find me with a coffee in hand, spending time by the lake, going for long walks, or enjoying Chicago’s patios whenever the weather allows. I grew up in Nebraska, where I spent much of my childhood around animals and horseback riding. I also spent several years living in Colorado, which helped foster my love for the outdoors and staying active. At the same time, I’m a firm believer in balance; you can just as easily find me curled up on the couch with my cat, Frankie, watching a good show after a long day.
